types of braces

Traditional Metal Braces

Metal braces are the most common type, and are more comfortable today than ever. They are made of high-grade stainless steel. With metal braces, you have the option of adding colored elastics for a more unique and colorful smile.

Clear (Ceramic) Braces

Ceramic braces are made of clear materials and are therefore less visible on the teeth than metal braces. For this reason, they are mainly used on older teenagers and adult patients who have cosmetic concerns. The only drawback to ceramic brackets is that they are more fragile.

Clear Aligners

Clear aligners (e.g. Invisalign) are a series of invisible, removable, and comfortable plastic trays that are custom-made to gradually move your teeth. They allow for easy brushing/flossing and no dietary restrictions, but must be worn 22 hours per day in order to be successful.
